About Me

I am currently in my last semester of Education PreK-5! Woo hoo!! I can't wait to get my own classroom and begin teaching. Throughout my pre-teaching journey, I have developed many strategies to assist me in teaching as well have had many wonderful and empowering experiences over the last four years.

Technology

I have had lots of experience in my internship with technology - mainly the smartboard. I used the smartboard, daily, for attendance, lessons, games, brain breaks, timers and more. I found that the kids were far more engaged than without using the smartboard. The school I interned at didn't have a computer lab - instead they have notebooks and laptops for the kids to use, however, this proved to be a hassle. By the time all the kids got logged in successfully and got set up on their program the class only had 5-10 minutes left.

Teaching Philosophy

I have many strong beliefs about teaching, however I strongly believe in holistic learning and having an open mind towards students within the classroom. Holistic learning includes spirituality, emotional, physical and mental. Living a balanced life creates a strong sense of self, which I find very crucial for students to learn about as they grow up and discover themselves. Not all children receive the opportunity to learn about holistic learning so it is very important that I teach them about the concept in my classroom. I also strongly believe that no matter what a teacher may tell you about a student, that you should always accept and welcome them with a clean slate. I believe each child should be treated with equality and equity. All children deserve the chance to be educated. As a teacher I feel that it is important to work towards making every child feel empowered, special, loved, accepted and safe. It is only when they feel this way that a child will trust you and begin to learn.
